Meet our 2019–2020 Future Woman of Distinction

Every year, Girl Scouts of Greater New York, along with Girl Scouts councils across the country, honors one outstanding Ambassador Girl Scout at our annual Women of Distinction Breakfast – New York City’s Future Woman of Distinction. This exemplary Girl Scout is making the world a better place through her commitment to community service, high academic achievement, servant leadership, and representation of the ideals inherent in Girl Scouting.

We are thrilled to announce that this year, a proud Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award Girl Scout — Ella Gwyn Guenther of Troop 3199 – will be our 2019–2020 Future Woman of Distinction!

Gwyn’s journey as a Girl Scout began in first grade when her mom started Troop 3199. She has remained an active and committed Girl Scout ever since. For her Gold Award Take-Action Project, Gwyn addressed an issue directly impacting her friends and community: waste. By creating the non-profit, W.A.S.T.E. No More, Gwyn created a way to connect consumers with New York City programs to reduce the amount of waste they generate and to educate them on how to correctly reduce, reuse, and recycle their waste.

But Gwyn’s not stopping there: she plans to pursue Environmental Science and Business in college while continuing her advocacy and leadership work. We are so proud to call her our 2019-2020 Future Woman of Distinction. Congratulations, Gwyn!
